Gobble Gobble

I'm so excited that it's Thanksgiving!!!! And... that I'm not in the hospital - Woo hoo!!!! That's something I'M grateful for today. My Dr. last week guessed that the baby might come in a week, so there WAS a chance, but she changed her mind at my visit on Tuesday. Anyway, that's another story for another day.

What I really wanted to post about is this:

Answer: Getting 2 turkeys for free!!!




Yes, I got ANOTHER turkey for free last night through the Macey's turkey voucher program. How'd I do it? Well, there's this great organization called Freecycle.org. And there were a lot of people who donated to my cause - they had turkey vouchers they weren't using and on my way home from work last night, I picked up from several different people to get a total of $10 in turkey bucks, which I added to my $2 leftover from buying the other turkey. I went to Macey's and found a 15.60 pound turkey for the price of $12.01! So, I only spent a penny (okay, so it wasn't completely FREE, but pretty much). I'm so excited to have this turkey for Christmas. My mom will be here, so we'll do it together so I can learn AND so I can have leftovers to make my favorite after-Thanksgiving tradition of hot turkey sandwiches. MMMM...

Thanksgiving is my FAVORITE holiday - I'm so excited for today!!! I wish you all a Happy Thanksgiving!!

I Heart Turkey Bucks!!!

Macey's, a grocery store here, does this awesome thing every November. As you purchase your groceries, you earn Turkey bucks which are good only until Thanksgiving to go toward the purchase of a Turkey. Well, this year since our family isn't coming out, we took it very seriously. We pooled together with our friends that we are having Thanksgiving with and we ended up getting a
23.37 lbs Turkey for FREE!!!

And that is how you do it folks!! This made me even more excited for Thanksgiving. It will be such a blast! We will certainly miss having our family around, but it will be fun to celebrate with friends.

So needless to say, this year I am grateful for many things, and one of those things is our
FREE TURKEY!!!
